Description

Woonsocket, RI- Woonsocket Falls Bank $1000 18__ Remainder G66 Durand 2743PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ.
The bank was incorporated in 1828 and remained in business until 1865 when it became the Woonsocket National Bank. The $1000 would have been a very seldom used denomination and is only known in remainder form at present. The design features vignettes of an eagle at the shore and a Native American maiden with bow and arrow. This is the plate note for both Durand and Haxby and may be unique or nearly so.
