Netherlands Netherlands Bank 25 Gulden 1.8.1914 Pick 29 PL56 AV46 PMG Extremely Fine 40 EPQ.
World War I saw a great many changes in Europe. During that era, emergency banknotes were issued across the continent as silver coinage was hoarded due to the spike in metal prices. Additionally, traditional printing presses for banknotes were not always available during wartime, and unusual or different banknotes entered circulation. This "Help Note" of 1914 was printed briefly and circulated briefly as well. Amazingly, redemption was nearly exhaustive, with a mere 131 not redeemed officially. This incredible example is one of those 131, and it is assuredly missing from most relevant collections. At the time of cataloging, this example is the finest of only three notes present in the PMG Population Report. Completely original paper adds to the appeal and allure of this extremely rare type note. Not to be missed, as this is one of the highlights of The Toele Collection.
