Japan New Oriental Bank Corporation Limited 1 Dollar 1.3.1886 Pick S260a PMG Very Fine 25.
An incredible foreign bank issue for 19th-century Japan. It is a miracle this note has survived in such pleasant quality to be enjoyed by collectors today. At the time of writing, PMG has graded a mere five examples of this type. This British colonial bank was founded in India in 1842, and it operated for 50 years throughout Asia. PMG mentions stains on this example, but that is overshadowed by a seriously good visual appeal, including bold ink both printed and handwritten. Very rare and most interesting.
