Description
Failed Splice with Detached Piece
Splicing Error - Failed Splice with Detached Piece Included Fr.
1908-E $1 1974 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Extremely Fine 40.An end of roll/paper splice major error is in this lot. Paper is spliced into rolls at the manufacturer, Crane & Co. When the paper is cut into individual sheets at the BEP, sensors should notify workers to remove that section of the paper. When the sensors fail, the spliced paper enters the production line and notes are printed on double thick paper. The error note in this lot had the splicing fail about one-third up on the note after the overprinting. The displaced splicing slice left behind an unprinted area that revealed parts of an end of a roll marker, while the detached part has the great majority of the end of roll marker on its back along the bottom edge. End of roll markers are a dyed strip that runs the entire width of the roll. Both parts of this note are now held within a PMG oversized holder.
