66PPQ Small Red Seal Hancock Deuce
Fr. 240 $2 1886 Silver Certificate PCGS Gem New 66PPQ.Normally when one comes across a near superb graded Hancock Deuce, it is the much more available Fr. 242. This example, which is the much more elusive Fr. 240, is a different story and quite difficult to acquire at this grade level. This Friedberg features the Rosecrans-Hyatt signature combination and a small red seal. We have offered only a handful of 66 graded Fr. 240 notes over the past two decades. The example presented in this lot is well deserving of the grade and shows off four large margins alongside great color and strong embossing. Last January, we auctioned an equivalently graded PCGS example for over $5,000.
