Fr. 93 $10 1862 Legal Tender PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ.
A colorful and fully original example, this early $10 Legal bears the more elusive First Obligation on the back. Collectors today are fortunate that a small run of these, saved many years ago, included this piece that is pedigreed to both the Pogue and Dauer collections. A perusal of Track & Price reveals that nothing above the 63 grade level has been offered at auction since PMG and PCGS opened for business almost 20 years ago. For comparison purposes, a PMG Choice 63 (no EPQ) example we offered realized $19,200 two years ago.
