Ultra Rare High Denomination WWII Emergency Issue

British North Borneo Nissan Estate 10 Dollars ND (1942) Pick UNL KNB4 PMG Very Fine 25.
The British North Borneo Company issued paper notes in Sabah from the 1880s until Japanese Occupation during World War II. Before Japanese-printed notes could be printed and delivered to the newly conquered colonies, The Nissan Rubber Estate in Tawau hastily created currency that imitated the previous series in the hopes it would be readily accepted in commerce. Locals in the region did accept these notes, and they circulated for approximately five months in 1942 until "JIM" (Japanese Invasion Money) arrived and was issued. This ultra rare 10 Dollars denomination is perhaps unique or close to it. The K.N. Boon specialty catalog indicates in its 8th Edition that perhaps only one example of each of the highest denominations, $10 and $25, are known to exist. This offering is the plate note for that catalog. Circulated and problem-free and a fantastic World War II issue definitely missing from perhaps most collections.

極罕見二戰時期緊急發行的高面額鈔票

英屬北婆羅洲公司自1880年代起為沙巴發鈔，直至在二戰中被日本佔領為止。在日本印製的鈔票運抵新佔的殖民地前，斗湖的日產集團緊急印製了一批仿照先前發行系列的鈔票，以便馬上投入流通。當地人接受使用這批鈔票，直至1942年日本軍票運抵並加以發行為止。這張10元稀罕萬分有如鳳毛麟角，甚或為孤品。K.B. Boon的專門目錄在第八版中指出10元和25的可能各僅有一張存世。當前此鈔為書中原件，雖經歷流通但無重大瑕疵，實為出類拔萃的二戰珍鈔，是絕大多數集藏都欠缺的大名譽品。
