Description
Bright, Problem-Free Fr. 6 $10 Demand Note
Fr. 6 $10 1861 Demand Note PCGS Banknote Very Fine 20.Demand notes represent an attempt by the United States government to remedy a chronic coin shortage during the Civil War era. Integral to financing the Union's war budget, notes from this series circulated heavily and thus are virtually unheard of in higher than the mid-VF grade level. The Track & Price Census supports this statement, as no representative in its records has achieved a grade above VF 35. While our current offering has certainly seen time in circulation, it retains pleasing green overprint color and displays even wear. Most importantly, this mid-grade piece has achieved a rare feat in that it has not attracted any meaningful condition impairments. We offered another Fr. 6 example housed in a comment-free PMG VF 20 holder which brought $12,000 in September 2023. Expect that price to be attained again or possibly surpassed tonight.
Estimate: $10,000 - up.
