Fr. 327 - One of Seven Within Reach of Collectors
Fr. 327 $50 1880 Silver Certificate PMG Very Fine 25.Another large size type note from the esteemed collection of our consignor that has a low population figure. Friedberg 327 has a population of only eleven serial numbers in Track & Price, but four of those notes are beyond the reach of collectors. They reside in the collections of the Smithsonian Institution and the Federal Reserve Banks of Chicago, Kansas City, and San Francisco. This population figure has remained constant since at least 2006. The piece in this lot was acquired by our consignor out of the auction of the Frank Levitan Collection in 1998. This example is evenly circulated with a few minor repairs with one being the sealing of a small split at top center. It certainly remains an attractive mid-grade $50 Silver from a rare Friedberg number. We had a PMG VF 20 with a minor restoration realize $27,600 in November 2020. Our current offering is a little nicer and should bring more.
