Pleasing Mid-Grade Decatur $20 Silver Certificate
Fr. 311 $20 1880 Silver Certificate PMG Very Fine 20.This attractive $20 Silver has certainly seen time in circulation, but retains good color with a bold brown Treasury Seal and well printed details. The portrait at right is of Stephen Decatur, a United States Navy Officer distinguished by his numerous military accomplishments during the War of 1812. Decatur led the raid to reclaim and burn the captured frigate Philadelphia at Tripoli Harbor, and he was also the leader behind the capture of the HMS Macedonian, a British frigate.
