Description

Impressive & Elusive 1880 $20 Silver

Fr. 310 $20 1880 Silver Certificate PMG Choice Fine 15.
This scarce, well circulated Decatur $20 Silver is one of just 51 examples reported in Track & Price for this number. On the face, it showcases a large brown scalloped Treasury Seal with two large "X" protectors directly below which denote the denomination. This note's back is quite similar to that of the $10 Silver from the same 1880 year. We are not often afforded the opportunity to offer a representative of this number. The most recent Fr. 310 piece to cross our auction block in a similar grade was also certified at the PMG 15 level, and brought $3,360. PMG comments on repairs, of which there are several around the edges, and pinholes.
