"A.J. Guirot" Endorsement

"A.J. Guirot" Endorsement T3 $100 1861 PF-2 Cr. 3 PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45.
Bearing serial number 1378, this note was part of a second shipment of Treasury Notes that barely escaped interdiction by Federal authorities in New York in April, 1861. The notes had been printed by National Bank Note Company for the Confederate government under a subcontract from rival ABNCo who held the original contract with the Confederate Government through its agent in New York, G.B. Lamar. The note, which featured all pre-war vignettes in order to expedite delivery, features a "de-federalized" America at left and a detailed passenger train and station vignette at center. The back has an endorsement of A.J. Guirot who served as an Assistant Treasurer based in New Orleans until that city's fall in April, 1862. A well printed note on bright paper that is fully margined and has certainly earned its assigned grade. No repairs or meaningful condition distractions are noted.
