Description

Fr. 292 $10 1886 Silver Certificate PMG Very Fine 25.
Vice President Thomas A. Hendricks served in President Grover Cleveland's first administration and died after only nine months in office in 1885. He was memorialized by the Charles Schlecht engraving of his portrait framed by an enclosure resembling a gravestone; this led to the note's "Tombstone" nickname. This 1886 series Tombstone with its early, ornate back style is difficult to locate in any grade. This is an attractive, well-margined piece with excellent color and should please any collector of circulated type.
