Fr. 299 $10 1891 Silver Certificate PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
Last encountered at our 2005 FUN auction is this beautiful Fr. 299. We graded it then as Gem New in the pre-third party grading days and PMG has upheld our opinion. According to Track & Price, this is the first 65-graded example of this Friedberg number to cross the auction block in over a dozen years. (Although we did sell a PMG Superb 67 EPQ note for $43,200 in our recent Central States auction). A perusal of our auction records reveals that we did sell a slightly scarcer Fr. 301 piece, also in a PMG 65 EPQ holder, for $11,400 three years ago.
