Fr. 36* $1 1917 Legal Tender Star PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.A lovely $1 Legal star we first crossed paths with at our January 1996 auction is offered in this lot. At that time, we were able to inspect it in hand and graded it Very Choice New. We stated its attributes in 1996 as, "fresh, bright and original." It has recently been graded by PMG and they have confirmed our earlier findings. We would also like to add now that the bold embossing of its star serial number can be seen in the unprinted area on the back. The last Fr. 36* in this third-party grade that we auctioned was a PMG 64 EPQ example that realized $2,880 in May 2024.
