Description

The Finer of Two Lazy Deuces Known

Lowell, MA - $2 1875 Fr. 391 The Wamesit National Bank Ch. # 781 PMG Choice Fine 15.
The Wamesit Bank opened in 1853 and continued in business until 1865, when it became the Wamesit National Bank of Lowell. A large only Middlesex County institution that was liquidated on July 12, 1927, and was subsequently absorbed by the Union National Bank, charter 6077. Impressive signatures of George W. Knowlton and Charles Whitney are spotted by this pair who served as bank officers for twenty and thirty years, respectively. The only other Deuce known was a graded problem free PMG Very Good 8 that we sold a half-dozen years ago. Tonight's legitimate problem free note is far superior in quality, and will no doubt realize a far superior price.
