Boston, MA - $10 1882 Brown Back Fr. 479 The Lincoln National Bank Ch. # 2846 PCGS Very Fine 35.A beautiful note from one of the very scarcest of all Boston banks, an institution which issued Brown Backs only before disappearing in the great bank merger of 1898. Tonight's offering, which is one of only seven pieces in the census, is the only $10 reported from this charter. It is also easily the finest of the seven notes extant, as none of the other pieces grades above the Fine-Very Fine level. This note appears to have never really circulated, as its colors and pen signatures are as bold and vibrant as when they were applied over a hundred years ago. Rather, this piece has acquired just some storage folds and the tiniest of edge splits, which truly affect nothing.
