Description

Vernon, NY - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 468 The National Bank of Vernon Ch. # 1264 PMG Extremely Fine 40.
This beautiful note from a one-bank Oneida County location is one of just two $5 Brown Backs in the census from this charter. It is a pretty, well margined piece that has just a few very light folds and bears the bold pen signatures of family members A.P. Case and D.B. Case who served together from 1896 to 1899. This long-lived charter remained an independent bank until it finally merged with another institution in 2007.
