Washingtonville, NY - $5 1902 Red Seal Fr. 589 The First
National Bank Ch. # (E)9065 PMG Choice Very Fine 35.A great New York Red Seal from an Orange County bank which had a meager $660 outstanding in large notes when the doors closed forever in 1931. Five large notes comprise the entire large census, two of which are Red Seals, this piece and a serial number 1 example which has note been seen since a lone auction appearance in 2010. This piece has ben off the market since Dick Boyce obtained it as lot 192 in Bill Donlon's November 26, 1975 mail bid sale. Dick paid a strong $450 for it nearly fifty years ago, and it will certainly reach well over ten times that figure this evening.
