Third Reported Winfield, Texas Note

Winfield, TX - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 631 The First National Bank Ch. # (S)10488 PMG Very Fine 20.
This is a great new discovery that is just the third note to be reported from the only issuer in this obscure East Texas location. Only in business from 1914 until 1924, the bank issued only a handful of Third Charter notes before closing its doors forever, after just ten years of operation in a community of just 500 souls. With one of the other known examples locked away in an institutional collection, there are not many opportunities for a collector to acquire this tough charter. While this $10 does have some edge damage in its top margin, it remains bright for the grade with good color and bold pen signatures.
