Hampton Bays, NY - $20 1902 Plain Back Fr. 661 The Hampton Bays
National Bank Ch. # 12987 PCGS Banknote Very Fine 30 PPQ.A very attractive note from a rare and always sought after eastern Long Island location, this piece is one of just three single large size (along with an uncut sheet) reported. The only bank to issue in this popular locale, the Hampton Bays National Bank had just $170 large size outstanding in 1935. Of the pieces recorded in the census, the uncut sheet has not been seen since our auction of The Collection of a Gentlemen in 1998, while the example we are offering this evening is the only single note to have been publicly offered since 2004. Easily the finest example among the single note trio, this bright and original $20 features excellent color, dark stamped signatures, and original surfaces. A great Long Island note worthy of a premium bid.
