Description
Unique for the Bank & Town
Corona, NY - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 615 The First National Bank
Ch. # (E)8853 PCGS Banknote Very Fine 30.A great rarity, this offering comes from the only bank to operate in this neighborhood within the Borough of Queens in New York City not far from the eventual location of the two New York Worlds' Fairs. The First National was only in business from 1907 until 1915 when it was absorbed by The Manhattan Company, which later helped form Chase Manhattan. The bank remained unreported for decades despite the diligent efforts of many of New York's well known collectors to ferret out an example. Then, about fifteen years ago, this $10 Red Seal walked into a dealer's shop within a group of other nondescript notes and is now available for one lucky collector to enjoy. It is as pretty as it is rare, with excellent color and dark signatures. A great New York note worth whatever it takes to bring it home tonight.
