Carmel, NY - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 613 The Putnam County
National Bank Ch. # (E)976 PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.An absolutely gorgeous Red Seal from this long-lived Putnam County bank, this is easily the finest of four examples of this type reported from this charter. It made its first public appearance in our 2005 FUN auction where we said, "It offers unsurpassed brilliance of colors, paper and inks, with a bold red imprint that appears as though it were applied this morning, is well centered, and boasts pen signatures of S. Ryder and Clayton Ryder." Incidentally, the Ryder family has controlled this bank for more than a century, an institution that is still in business today. This is a great New York National fit for the finest of collections.
