Description

Unique for the Bank

Albion, MI - $10 Original Fr. 412 The National Exchange Bank Ch. # 1544 PCGS Fine 12.
This note comes from Albion, one of the most difficult to obtain communities in the entire state. Three banks were chartered here, with each succeeding its predecessor at regular twenty year intervals. The first, which was this bank, has just this note reported, the second bank, which issued Brown Backs only, has but three pieces listed in the census, while the last, which struggled on for seven years before the receiver arrived in 1912, is unreported. This example is not the prettiest note we have ever handled, but one cannot afford to be choosy about grade when a unique note is offered. This $10 does have some splits, tears, and repairs as mentioned on the holder.
