Description

Serial Number 1 Albany Red Seal

Serial Number 1 Albany, NY - $5 1902 Red Seal Fr. 587 The First National Bank Ch. # (E)267 PMG Very Fine 30.
The only Serial Number 1 example reported from this early-chartering capital city bank, this piece is making its first public appearance since our 2000 FUN auction. The First National, which was located at the corner of State Street and Broadway just a few blocks from the State Capital Building, was a large-only affair as it elected to give up its national charter in 1926 to become the First Trust Company of Albany. This bright, boldly inked, and well signed Number 1 Red Seal has just some light folds and a bit of ink burn in the dark pen signatures.
