Description

Serial Number 1 Florida, NY Small Size

Serial Number 1 Florida, NY - $20 1929 Ty. 2 The National Bank of Florida Ch. # 13825 PMG Very Fine 25.
A great serial number 1 example from this downright rare Orange County bank. Issued by the successor bank to Charter 9956, this newly chartered Orange County institution opened in October 1933 and, therefore, issued only a small amount of Type 2 notes before the National Bank Note era ended in 1935. To date, just three pieces are reported from this high charter number bank - a serial number 1 $5 which your cataloger handled years ago in a private sale directly from the family of Clinton E. Mars, the bank's Cashier and which grades, at best, Very Fine with a stain, a non-serial number 1 $20 which we sold five years ago $4,080, and the note we offer tonight, which last appeared on the market in our 2003 Central States auction. It exhibits even wear and wide margins with just a tiny piece off the top right corner tip.
