New Bedford, MA - $50 1902 Plain Back Fr. 685 The Safe Deposit National Bank Ch. # 12405 PMG Very Fine 25.A rare type and denomination from the Bay State, this example is one of only five $50 Plain Backs reported from all charters in the state combined. It is also one of only two such pieces reported from this Bristol County bank that bears one of the more appealing titles to be found from any Massachusetts charter. It faces up quite nicely with bold ink colors and dark stamped signatures. Some light staining on the back has been noted by PMG.
