Serial Number 1 Davenport, IA - $5 Original Fr. 397a The
Davenport National Bank Ch. # 848 PMG Very Fine 25.A wonderful Iowa rarity, this is one of just seven Serial Number 1 First Charter Fives known for all Iowa banks, three of which are ensconced in the Higgins Museum. This note also represents an excessively rare Iowa bank in its own right, as it is one of just three pieces reported from this short-lived Davenport charter, one of which is also housed in the Higgins Museum. This nicely margined and solid Original Series $5 exhibits just even wear and retains great color and dark pen signatures. A great note for anyone who appreciates rare Nationals.
