Rare New Iberia Red Seal
New Iberia, LA - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 613 The State National
Bank Ch. # (S)6858 PMG Very Good 10 Net.Not a thing of beauty, as it has been severed, reattached, and repaired, but this is one of only two Red Seals reported from this Iberia Parish bank and one of only a dozen and a half $10 Red Seals in the census from all Louisiana banks. Despite its problems, it still displays a bold red overprint and legible stamped signatures. It represents a very rare type for Louisiana, as evidenced by the fact that the other known Red Seal from this bank sold for almost $20,000 at auction fifteen years ago.
