Hastings-Upon-Hudson, NY - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 600 The First National Bank Ch. # 8586 PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
For many years, notes from this bank were virtually unobtainable, as fancy name and Westchester County collectors vied with each other every time a note from this bank came up for sale. Track & Price is replete with prices realized for average circulated pieces in the $5,000 to $8,000 range, although enough examples have now been unearthed for those numbers to have moderated considerably in recent years. This pretty note is one of the finest survivors and traces its pedigree to the sale of The Frank Levitan Collection in 2010. It is a bright and crisp note with dark printed signatures.
