Description

Excessively Rare Riverdale, CA Large Size - One of Two Reported

Riverdale, CA - $20 1902 Plain Back Fr. 654 The First National Bank Ch. # 10200 PMG Very Fine 20.
This great note represents one of the most thinly capitalized banks in the state. This Fresno County community is represented by only one bank, which has just four notes recorded in the census, two large and two small. That scant total is not surprising as the charter had just $5,650 outstanding in both large and small at the end of the note-issuing period in 1935. This $20 is one of the two known large and it is making its first public appearance. It is rather circulated with some soiling and lightened rust stains, but it still displays decent color and the bold pen signature of the bank's female assistant cashier, Pauline L. Gabby.
