Richmond, VA- Richmond Exchange Office-Jacob Ezekiel 15¢ Apr. 10, 1862 Jones-Littlefield PR60-702 PMG Very Fine 25.Ezekiel was a dry goods merchant who apparently used the Richmond Exchange Office moniker on his notes but did not actually run an exchange business per se. The note design is virtually the same on all denominations from this issuer. Ezekiel was fortunate that his business was about six blocks removed from the fire that destroyed parts of Richmond when it fell in April of 1865. This note has seen some time in active circulation, but has survived the experience without attracting any repairs or significant impairments.
