Description

Rutland, VT- Bank of Rutland $50 Jan. 1, 18__ G58a Proof PMG Uncirculated 62.
The bank was organized in 1824 and remained in business until 1865 when it became the National Bank of Rutland. The $50 design sports a large passenger train vignette flanked by two oval female portraits and and twin red L protectors with a small dog head below representing Fidelity. The note is printed on India paper with the usual POCs in the signature and date lines. PMG notes some issues in the upper left corner margins. There were no examples of this in the 1999 ABNCo Archives sale, and we are aware of only three examples at present.
