One of Three Reported

Reedley, CA - $20 1902 Plain Back Fr. 653 The Reedley National Bank Ch. # 9688 PMG Very Fine 25.
This offering is another wonderful California rarity that hails from one of the toughest locations in the state from which to obtain a National Bank Note. Reedley was the host to two note-issuers: the First National which was in business from 1907 until 1921 and which has just one note reported, and the Reedley National which operated from 1910 until 1927 and which has a mere three notes in the census. This offering is one of that known trio from the latter issuer and is crossing the auction block for the first time. It is a bright mid-grade $20 with pleasing color and bold stamped signatures. PMG mentions a corner split which can only be found after close scrutiny. It certainly compares favorably to the $10 Plain Back, in a PMG Very Fine 25 holder, that we auctioned for $13,200 in 2019.
