Description
(Anderson), TX- (Treasurer of) Grimes County $3 June 13, 1862 Medlar-UNL PMG Very Fine 20.This $3 is not listed in either Medlar's original state catalog or the subsequent 1970 update. The design features a vignette of a train hauling cotton bales at center with a THREE DOLLARS end panel at left and a bold numeral 3 at upper right. GRIMES / COUNTY is printed across the face in red. PMG mentions a small divot out of the upper right margin on this note which is printed on the back of a fiscal instrument. Currently, we are aware of just one other example which was once part of The Eric P. Newman Collection.
