Description

Complete (First) Liberty Loan $50 Bond

(First) Liberty Loan 3 1/2% Gold Bond Booklet of 1932-47 $50 June 15, 1917 PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45 EPQ.
A rare complete First Liberty Loan bond is in this lot. The bonds were sold to support the Allied cause during World War I. It was patriotic to purchase them and also brought investing to much of the citizenry for the first time. The BEP printed this bond in booklet form with 60 interest coupons. There are three attached pages of 20 coupons each, with every coupon alternating between amounts of 87¢ and 88¢, followed by the bond proper. PMG has encapsulated this bond in their oversized holder so that only the first page of the coupons and the back of bond are visible. This is only the fourth complete First Liberty Loan $50 bond that we have auctioned.
