Kensington, MI- Bank of Kensington $1-$2-$5-$10 18__ G2-G4-G8-G10 Lee KEN-1-1- KEN-1-2- KEN1-3- KEN-1-4 Uncut Sheet PMG Very Fine 30.The Bank of Kensington was organized at the end of 1837 and failed the following year when $10,000 was stolen from the bank by two of its organizers. The bank was subsequently found to be fraudulently run and was placed in receivership. The $1 design features an allegorical vignette of Justice seated flanked by a Native American man and a portrait of Washington. The $2 features Liberty and Agriculture flanked by portraits of a young child and woman. The $5 has an allegorical woman with Agriculture and Navigation flanked by portraits of Franklin and Lafayette while the $10 features a large eagle flanked by a portrait of Washington and vignette of an allegorical woman with a Native American man. Scarce and seldom seen.
