Description

HB-134 EP-117 Reed-JG10RB 10¢ J. Gault Ribbed Frame About New.
The attractive olive-green case shows almost no wear and has retained a considerable amount of silvering. The mica has a few small marks and a tiny break near the bottom that is easily overlooked. Also, any crazing of the mica is at a minimum whether observed head on or while tilting the piece. The stamp is well centered and very bright, too. The ribbed frame variety is scarcer than the plain frame 10¢ variety by a factor of at least five to one, if not more. The Reed rarity rating for the ribbed variety is R-6 which translates to a population of 16-20. However, it is certain that very few of those examples will match the delightful piece in this lot that our consignor won at our 2002 Spring Auction.
