Description

Carlisle, PA- (Wray & Lamberton) 3d Sep. 5, 1789 Remainder Hoober UNL PMG About Uncirculated 55.
John Wray and James Lamberton were post-Colonial era merchants that formed a partnership and issued these scrip notes. The note has a rather plain face design and a decorative back design depicting a rural scene that seems to portray a somewhat positive theme with the sun brightly shining and a "Liberty Cap" hanging on a pole. PMG notes that this example has evidence of previous mounting on the back and annotations (lightly penciled names of the two issuers) on the face. We have not handled this denomination previously.
