Description

Rare Juneau, Alaska Small Size Note

Juneau, AK - $10 1929 Ty. 1 The First National Bank Ch. # 5117 PMG Very Fine 25.
This is a pleasing, moderately circulated note from, by far, the scarcest of our 49th State's three small size issuers and a "must have" for any collector seeking to put together a set of state capital notes. One of barely a dozen 1929 Series examples reported from this always-in-demand bank, this $10 first crossed our auction block in our 2007 Long Beach auction. It is a crisp mid-grade piece displaying just even, problem free wear with nice color and solid paper. It features a replacement serial number, which adds another level of desirability. In our 2024 FUN auction, we offered another Type 1 $10, also graded Very Fine 25 by PMG, which brought $18,000. We see no reason that this offering should not approach that level again.
