Description
Fernandina, FL- Bank of Fernandina $5 18__ G2a Benice 4 Remainder PMG Very Fine 30 EPQ.The bank opened in 1859 and moved to Starke in March of 1862, when Fernandina was occupied by Union forces. Along with other denominations from this series, the $5 has two bright red denominational panels that nicely frame a wonderful vignette of a large ocean-going steamer entering harbor. This note served as the plate note on page 70 of the Benice Florida catalog.
