Description

T19 $20 1861 PF-1 Cr. 317 PMG Very Fine 25, HC.
A type that was printed by the Southern Bank Note Company (in actuality the tiny New Orleans office of the ABNCo) as part of a four subject, four denomination plate. The fall of New Orleans at the end of April, 1862 stopped production after only 14,860 notes were issued. This example features pre-war vignettes of Minerva, Commerce (or perhaps Navigation), and a rendition of Pat Lyon at the Forge. These are complemented by three orange denominational counters and a security panel, none of which show any oxidation. The note has been neatly hammer cancelled.
