Description

Issued at Jackson, MS / San Antonio, TX T41 $100 1862 PF-15 Cr. 316 PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
The back of this T41 note tells an interesting logistical story. There are four different manuscript entries, each appearing to have been made by different individuals. Their dates provide the following chronology: The note was processed on December 11, 1862. It then travelled to Jackson, MS, where it was issued to the field on January 1, 1863. Interest was then paid to January 1, 1864 presumably at or near Jackson. The next entry places the note at San Antonio, TX, where it was reissued on February 1, 1864. A final manuscript entry notes the payment of interest to January 1, 1865 at an undisclosed location, although in or near San Antonio would be a good guess. The host note is a very attractive mid-grade note with an unoxidized orange HUNDRED protector and four full margins.
