Lovely Serial Number 1 Westchester Red Seal
Port Chester, NY - $5 1902 Red Seal Fr. 587 The First NB Ch. # (E)402We last offered this note in our FUN sale three years ago, where we described it as "A lovely serial number 1 Red Seal which is one of a select group of just five serial number 1 Red Seals reported from all Westchester County banks combined. This is just a peach of a note, with great color, signatures, and eye appeal, and offers everything a collector could want in a number 1 example. Our consignor obtained this note from the June 2004 Memphis sale, where it realized $8625, and we see no reason why it should not bring that or more again this evening. About Uncirculated." The market responded with a $12,650 realization. Now encased in a PCGS Choice About New 55PPQ holder, we see little reason that this beauty should not see a similarly strong realization this evening.
