Silverton, CO - $20 1929 Ty. 1 The First NB Ch. # 2930
This is an exceptionally rare Colorado community which was home to two banks, the First National and the Silverton National. The Silverton National issued Red Seals and Date Backs only, and no notes of either type are known today. This institution issued a full range of notes from Brown Backs to small size, and again, no large notes are reported. The total census from here stands at five Series 1929 examples, most all of which are ensconced in long term Colorado holdings. The Gengerke data shows just two public offerings, the last of which came in 1999. This piece, which is new to the census, is by far the finest known from here, grading a bright Extremely Fine.
