This vivid $500 was last offered at auction over a decade ago. Since that time, another Extremely Fine was offered in 2002, with no others comparing to it either in terms of condition or eye appeal. This example has four jumbo sized margins, though one has been helped a bit by some professional restoration as seen at the top. However, the lack of significant folds along with paper that is bright and free of soiling allows this piece to face up as nicely as any of the 14 examples known for this Friedberg number. With Very Fine 35 graded New York and Chicago districts examples selling for $16,100 and $21,275 respectively within the last couple of years, this much scarcer, higher grade Cleveland $500 should realize...
