San Francisco, CA - The Imperial Government of Norton I 50¢ March 11, 1876A lovely and rare signed and issued piece of scrip from the local eccentric Joshua A. Norton, signed as "Norton I Emperor". Counterstamped twice on the face "Cal. Club" (meaning unknown), this note also has some notations in ink on the back. Very Fine+++, one of the more intriguing items in this sale and likely to reach or exceed. .
