Port Gibson, MS - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 477 The Mississippi NB Ch. # 5715An extremely rare note from the only bank in this small Claiborne County town. This bank, which issued Brown Backs only before disappearing in 1907, was unknown prior to the discovery of a pair of notes two serial numbers apart in 2005. Both graded Very Fine, with the first selling for $21,850 in August of that year and the second reaching exactly the same figure when it sold the following month. A third note was discovered several years later, in the same grade as the first two. None of the notes have sold since 2005. Pen signed PMG Very Fine 25.
