Babylon, NY - $20 1902 Date Back Fr. 647 The Babylon NB Ch. # (E)10358While Series 1929 examples do exist (although none have been offered at public sale since 2004), this note is unique in large size, and, with a miniscule $100 outstanding, is likely to remain that way forever. After a very small issue of 1902 Date Backs after the bank was chartered in 1913, this institution called in its circulation, and issued no notes until the advent of small size in 1929. Even the massive Collection of a Gentleman lacked a large note from this bank, with this note's only previous appearance coming when we offered it in our 1996 Sale in the Swamp in Secaucus, New Jersey. PCGS Very Fine 25, interestingly bearing the same pen signatures as are found on the Brown Back offered above from Babylon's only other issuer. This lot is accompanied by a postcard depicting the bank, likely circa 1920.
