Description

(Ossining, NY)- Sing Sing Prison $1 Series C
This is a fascinating piece of prison scrip with the slogan "Do good. Make good." This is only the fifth piece that we have offered (and the second nicest) from this notorious prison and it appears to be from the facility's heyday around the 1930's. We are unsure of the meaning of the central monogram, "MWL." The expression "sent up the river" refers to criminals convicted in New York City being sent up the Hudson River to Sing Sing. Very Fine+.
